because of some of the issues that olivia deals with one of her doctors suggested that she undergo an mri to rule out a tethered cord. we were quite anxious because in order to preform an mri on a child they must be put under anesthesia for the procedure. it was a hard day, but she came out of it like a champ. all of the nurses were so impressed and surprised by how well she did and best of all the results came back negative for a tethered cord. such great news! here are some pictures for that very stressful day.

here is another march 09 post. the weather turned warm early last winter. we were able to enjoy march in upstate ny in just long sleeved t-shirts. meghann & i decided to take advantage of the nice weather and we were going on walks almost daily during those few warm weeks we had. on one of our walks i decided to break out my good camera and take some pics. they turned out amazing! i have to say, it’s not hard to take good pictures when you have beautiful models! here are just a few of the pics we took : )

i’m going to do a picture highlight post for each month that i missed and if anything super important happened i’ll do up a short post for that. lets see how long it takes for me to get caught up to the present!

- i know this doesn’t seem like much but…. we were told olivia might not be able to use her legs correctly b/c the nerves in her legs were to quick. one morning i noticed that liv had stuck her big toe through a small hole in her pj’s. i pushed it back though and she proceeded to push it back out. seems silly to most of you i’m sure, but to me it showed that she was able to move her toe and make it do what she wanted. i cried! lol

wow, i can’t believe that i haven’t posted in almost a year! this past year has been a bit difficult for us, i’ll be the first to admit that i’ve been a little depressed and that probably attributed to my lack of posting. i have recently decided that i need to do something for me, something to help me get out of the depression that i’ve slipped into. i’ve come up w/ a few thing that i am hoping will help and starting my blog up again is one of them.
last march, actually just a few days after my last post my husband doug got laid off from his job at Corning Inc. unfortunately he is still having trouble finding anything though just with in the last week or so a few things have come up that look like they may have some promise. we are crossing our fingers (and our toes) that one of them come through.
in july we found out that i was pregnant again, we were very nervous at first what with doug being unemployed and all, but quickly got excited and were anxious to welcome another member into our family. we were devastated when at 6 1/2 weeks i miscarried. i of course knew what a miscarriage was and knew it was something that could happen but i never really thought it could happen to us. like everyone else who has had to deal with this loss, we healed, it just took awhile. it made us realize though that we were ready to be parents again and that as soon as we could we could try again. and we did.
we got pregnant again in november and are currently a little over 13 weeks along. we are very excited and anxious for her or him to get here. actually, my due date is the day before olivia’s 2nd birthday!!! that should be interesting!
speaking (or rather writing) about olivia, she is doing great! i don’t think she was even crawling yet the last time i posted. now she is not just walking, but running and jumping and climbing and dancing. always dancing! i’m not sure if you’ll remember this or not, but her developmental doctors had originally said that they weren’t sure if her legs would work correctly or if she’d be able to walk on her own. such a HUGE victory it was to see her walk for the first time! we actually have an appointment with her orthopedic specialist later this month. it should be her last and we are very excited about that!
her bladder is still not working on it’s own. we are still intermittently cathing her 5 to 6 times a day. that will probably continue on for the rest of her life, though we are still playing that God heals her and she is able to go on her own. her bowels are still a bit of an issue as well. but with medicine and restrictions on her diet we are slowly getting a handle on that situation as well. we will be seeing her gastrointestinal specialist at the end of the month also. hopefully they will be pleased w/ her progress and also have some answers for us.
i’m hoping to post every few days. we’ll see how that goes. i’ll definitely be posting some pictures from the past year and probably some back posts. hope everyone is having a great new year thus far!

doug & i have had this ongoing fight since we moved in here. the deal was, i would do all of the cooking, and her would do the dishes. well it didn’t quite work out. i tend to be a bit stubborn, and was refusing to do any of the dishes. a deals a deal! so after nearly a year of dishes stacked nearly to the ceiling on almost a weekly basis, i gave in & decided to buy a dishwasher. i couldn’t deal w/ all of the endless bickering anymore. thankfully we have a good friend who just happens to be a carpenter & he help doug install it for free! which was so amazing of him because he had to do a ton of plumbing & rewiring. meghann & the girls came up to keep me & live company while the boys worked, it was fun! thanks sach for all of your help! we love you : D
